Information for Contributors Submission of a paper implies that it has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Typescript. All parts of the paper must be typed double-spaced on good quality white paper A4 (210 x 297mm) with at least 2.5 cm margins at top, bottom, and sides. Each page of the typescript should be numbered on the bottom in the right corner. Authors are expected to supply 2 clean copies in English or Bulgarian. Please use correct English or Bulgarian spelling, punctuation, grammar, and syntax. The metric system must be used throughout; use of appropriate SI units is encouraged. Paper length. Paper should be written in the most concise form. Occasionally long papers (over 15p.) are accepted, particularly those of a review nature. The typescript should be arranged as follows: 1. Title page including authors' names and affiliations 2. Abstract and key words 3. Text (including tables and figures) 4. Reference list Abstract. The abstract should be in a single paragraph (250 words or fewer). State the nature of the investigation and summarize its important conclusions. References must not be cited in the abstract. The abstract should be suitable for separate publication in a Web site. Mathematics. All characters available on a standard typewriter must be typewritten in the equations as well as in text. Special attention should be paid to single couples of the kind: vn , pr , mm , nh .Distinction should be made between the letter O and the numeral 0; between the letter l and the numeral 1; between k and kappa. Alignment of symbols must be unambiguous. Superscripts and subscripts should clearly be in superior or inferior position. Fraction bars should extend under the entire numerator. Displayed equations should be numbered consecutively throughout the paper; the number (in parentheses) should be to the right of the equation. References. A complete and accurate reference list is of major importance. Only works cited in the text should be included in the reference list. References are cited in the text by the last name of the author and the year: (Jones, 1990). If the author's name is part of the sentence, only the year is bracketed. References are arranged alphabetically by the last names of authors. Multiple entries for a single author are arranged chronologically. Two or more publications by the same author in the same year are distinguished by a, b, c after the year Tables. Tables should be typed as authors expect them to look in print. Every table must have a title. Column headings must be arranged so that their relation to the data is clear. Each table must be cited in the text. Illustrations. All illustrations should be inserted in the text, suitable for the camera-ready reproduction (which may include reduction). Each figure must be cited in numerical order in text and must have figure legend. Please do not draw with hairlines. The minimum line width is 0.2 mm (i.e. 0.567pt). Electronic submission. Authors must submit an electronic copy of their paper with the final version of the manuscript. The electronic copy should match the hardcopy exactly. Authors will receive more detailed information when the article is accepted for publication so that requirements for the camera-ready presentation are fulfilled.
Instructions for Preparing Camera-Ready Manuscripts General requirements The manuscripts for Bulgarian Geophysical Journal (BGJ) (camera-ready) should be prepared according to the following specifications:

Bulgarian Summary (Spacing after): 20 pt
Text of summary in Bulgarian (Style name: 14ResumeTextBG) Font: Times New Roman Cyr, 10
Line spacing: At least 12 pt
Alignment: justified
Start with word "Summary", bold, full stop, two spaces, followed by
the summary text. The text of the Bulgarian summary is a translation of
the English abstract and consists of one paragraph, no more than 250
words, without references.
Equations (Style name: 15FormulaBGJ) Equation size and font must match the type used in the text of your
manuscript. The font below is advisable:
Font: Times New Roman, 12
Space before and after: 6 pt
Layout: The equations are centered. For multiline equations, break
each line at a sign of operation (+, -, etc), with the sign of operation
on the new line.
Set the equation number flush right on the last line of the equation;
if there is not enough room, set the number flush right on a separate line
immediately following the equation. You can also use a table consisting of
the two columns (one for the equation and one for the number), its width
must not exceed 127mm.
Figure and table captions (Style name: 16Fig/TableCaptions) Font: Times New Roman, 9
Line Spacing: Exactly 11 pt
Alignment: left
Space before and after: 6 pt
Begin with word "Table/Fig.", the number in Arabic, in bold, full
stop, and two spaces, followed by the title text, which is not bold. The
title must not be wider than the table/figure itself. If longer than one
line continue on the next but observe the same width.
Tables Tables can be positioned either landscape or portrait. Dimensions of tables along the wide side of the page cannot exceed the following values: width 177.8 mm (7") and height 127.0 mm (5") together with the figure captions. If you change the page orientation replace the values for the height by the values for the width. The space between the table (the caption inclusive) and the text of the article top and bottom, should be the same - 6 pt. Table data Font: Times New Roman, 10
Line spacing: Exactly 9 pt
Data within the columns may be aligned flush right within the column,
flush left within the column, or centered within the column. All columns
(except the first) must have a heading. Space between columns must be
equal. Tables must contain at least 2 columns and at least 2 rows of data.
All parts of tables must be single-spaced; double spacing is used to
separate different parts of the tables or to show grouped data.
Figures Figures must be black and white, high resolution and legible inscriptions in English in them. Dimensions should not exceed 88.9mm (3.5") width and 127 mm (5") height. If two or more graphs are grouped in one figure, its height should be up to 177.8 mm (7") and width 127 mm (5") together with captions. The latter must be at 6 pt space above or below the figure, not wider than the figure itself. Space between figure together with caption and the text of the article (if there is one) must be equal on all sides: top and bottom, - 6 pt. Please place the figures where you want them to appear in the text. You can submit another electronic copy in ".jpg" or ".tif" format for each figure separately. The resolution of the picture file must be at least 300dpi (or above) and the picture size does match the size you want it to appear in the text. Please do not forget figures captions. Citations When citing please follow the two samples of this instruction. Sample 1: …In this region, higher densities in the mantle due to cooling across the fracture zone, serpentinized peridotites with a higher density than gabbros of the same velocity (Miller et al., 1997). Sample 2: …Using elastostatic theory, Weertman (1971a), Secor and Pollard (1975) and Pollard (1976) have shown that vertical finite-volume fractures containing … If you cite two or more works of the same author (authors) of the same year, place small letters a, b, c…after the year. When arranging the reference list follow the alphabetical order of authors' names and the first word of the article or book head/title and do not forget to place the same small letter after the year. Running heads On a separate sheet of paper give the shortened title of the article and the name(s) of the author(s) up to 80 symbols, spaces included, which will be used as running heads. The title-shortened variant must start with the same word as the original title. Please, Download the instructions and the template here: instr_bgj.zip |
